Break barriers in healthcare.

Missing critical visual cues can be the difference between complete understanding and a preventable visit to the ER. When traditional masks are worn, miscommunication may happen with people who heavily use visual communication, such as deaf and hard of hearing individuals, children, and older adults. In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, patients felt that they better understood and connected with doctors who wore ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask compared to traditional masks.

The ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Masks help healthcare entities and hospitals comply with mask wearing protocols while providing clear communication and improving patient satisfaction.

Strengthens patient-centered care

“With the introduction of the ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Masks at UCHealth, patients appreciate being able to see the face and can understand so much better. According to one patient, it makes them so happy to see the doctor, to see the interpreter, to see people and feel that human connection.” - UC Health

clear mask physical therapy

Improves comfort and trust during sessions

“The ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Masks have made a huge difference in my ability to work with my patients as a physical therapist . I have a very quiet voice, which makes it even more difficult for people to understand me while wearing a normal mask. The mask is comfortable, it does not fog up, and it improves the comfort of my patients because they can understand me. It has also allowed me to smile again! I really missed being able to smile (and it has such a wonderful impact on other people to see a real smile again).” - Rebecca, PT, DPT

Improves access to full communication

“Wearing a face mask has become very common during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those who are deaf and hard of hearing have found communication to be increasingly challenging with visual cues removed from conversations. We use the ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Masks to ensure nothing is lost in translation during every patient appointment.” - Aurora Audiology LLC

Clear mask babies

Increases connection with families

“The ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask allows babies to see their parents’ full faces, essential to their development. Our families sometimes have to wear a mask 24/7, but one of the ways babies learn is by copying your expression, such as seeing your smile, and traditional masks prevent that. It can be a very emotional experience, and just to see the huge smile on the parents’ faces as they hold their child is something we can do during an anxiety-ridden, stressful time.” - Oregon Health and Science University

Is the ClearMask™ a face shield?

No, the ClearMask™ brand produces transparent surgical masks and transparent face masks, which offer distinctly different protection than transparent face shields. The CDC does not recommend using face shields or goggles as a substitute for masks. For more information about the differences between surgical masks, face masks, and face shields, please view the CDC guidelines. The ClearMask™ brand does not make transparent face shields, only transparent surgical masks and transparent face masks that cover the wearer’s mouth and nose when worn properly.
